Feb. 5th Chapter 7 Post

In finishing up chapter 7 today we learned a lot about the relationships that Alex maintains and does not maintain. Good job today with focus; keep it up!

1. Describe Alex's/Chris's relationships with the opposite sex. Why does he take this stance with women?
2. What does it mean to live out one's beliefs? Give an example from Into the Wild.
3. At the end of chapter 7, is Alex's letter a suicide note or not? Explain.

Be sure to answer these questions in one comment. Feel free to comment on the comments of others.

  1. 1. alex takes the stance of not to be intimate with girls. He just wanted a close friendship with them He read book s that preached against sex

  2. 1) I think alex only wants to be friends with girls because he has better things to do

    2) I think living outside your beliefs is like doing what you what you think if right thing to do and no one can stop you what you want to do and example is how he wants to go live in the wild and no one wants him to but he still does.

    3) No its not a suicide note becuase he not sure how it is going to go in the wild and if he makes it out he has plans to go to work and stuff but if something happens he just wants somebody to know how it might go.

  3. 1)I think the Alex is looking more toward the woman's mind then her sex appeal or if she is good in bed.
    2) To live out ones beliefs means to stand by your principle or if you say you never going to drink then for your whole life you dont pick up a bottle. In the book he said he is going to lose civilization and go to Alaska; He burn his SS card close his bank account and started for Alaska.
3)Form read the two letters that Alex wrote at the end of the chapter; from what i can infer that he is say goodbye for ever just like a true suicide letter, but only he knows if he is saying goodbye to civilization.

2.Doing what you want and know one can stop you.
3.N0 I don't think Alex wrote a suicide letter because he is not sure how it is going to happen in the wild.=]

  5. 1.Alex wants to be just friend, because if he make girlfriend then he would have reason to stay and can't travel around.
    2. I think living outside your beliefs would be like doing what you want to do and nothing could stop Alex's way of belief.
3.Alex's letter sounds like suicide letter, but I believe it means we don't need a letter anymore. After this challenge I could meet you anytime.

  6. Alex's relationship with women is not bad. The thing is that he does like girls, but hes not crazy about them. He even said that he'd rather be in the wild then have sex with a girl.
Living out their belief i think might means doing wutever u want and u don't care if others disagree with u.
At the end of chapter 7, i dont think that Alex's letter was not a suicide letter. I thought it was just him letting people know that just in case he dosnt make it, that he kinda of knew wut he was getting into.

  8. 1. Probably he wanted to be friends with the girls, because he doesnt have time to have an relationship with someone since hes heading north.

    2. I think Alex/Chris believe in something in life that Jack London did same for what Alex is doing. (I dont know.)

    3. No, the letter wasnt a suicide note, because Alex is saying that he wont be able see everyone he met until the future.

  9. I think alex cant really spit any game and does not know how to "mack".

to live out ones beliefs means to live life the way you think it should be

not a suicide note but more like a goodbye because he feels like its something he just has to do no matter what

  12. 1. He can relate really well with girls but for some reason he just cant maintain a relationship.

    2. Like when alex worked at a Micky D's he was totally against that and working for the "Man", He is totally against that and not wearing socks was another thing he hated.

    3. I think it is he is saying he was like never going to see them again even though they were the closet thing to a family.

  13. 1. Maybe Chris is scared of being rejected by the women so he doesn't go that close to them...or he's just not inerested in women like that.(he's gay]
    2. Whatever you believe in...Alex didn't really live out his beliefs cuz he worked at McDonald's xP but that's his problem, so i guess no one knows what he truly believes in.
    3. No its not, he's simply saying goodbye && might not talk to them again. Trust, it would've said something else if it was a suicidal note or w/e.
:P sorry its been a while since I've cmnt any of this.

  14. 1. McCandless's relationship with a women is not so good for him, i think he wouldnt know what to do with a girlfriend and how to treat them properly.
    2. Living out in your own beliefs is nature, its good to love nature and to want to live in it, but there are just somethings that are bad about that.
    3. I do think that Alex's letter was a suicide letter. it sounded very much like one and he was drinking himself to death.

  15. 1. i think that McCandless just see girls as being friends with him. He just things that girl are like a waste of time...but not in a bad way!
    2. living out one's beliefs means like you do what you beliebe in and what you think is the right thing to do.
    3. i think that the letter was not neccesarily a suicide note. It was like he knew he was going to die because he wasn't gonna make it but it didn't exactly mean that he wanted to kill himself.
