Today in class we did a journal entry, a mini-lesson on "Think and Search" questions, and finished our paired reading for Chapter 8. Each pair of students were responsible for turning in a set of 10-15 "right-there" questions. Your assignment for tonight's homework is to answer the "right-there" questions developed by yourselves on notebook paper. Please answer all the following questions on a seperate sheet of paper and turn in tomorrow:
1. What is the Alaskan name for the peak of Mt. McKinley?
2. What magazine was McCandless featured in?
3. Who said Alex was a nut?
4. Who was the author of the letter on page 29?
5. What mountain did Waterman want to climb?
6. What did Krakauer say in the letter he wrote to the readers?
7. Who sent the most negative mail?
8. In what year did Rosellini land on Cordova?
9. Who built a cabin on the Black River east of Chalkitsik?

Feb. 5th Chapter 7 Post
In finishing up chapter 7 today we learned a lot about the relationships that Alex maintains and does not maintain. Good job today with focus; keep it up!
1. Describe Alex's/Chris's relationships with the opposite sex. Why does he take this stance with women?
2. What does it mean to live out one's beliefs? Give an example from Into the Wild.
3. At the end of chapter 7, is Alex's letter a suicide note or not? Explain.
Be sure to answer these questions in one comment. Feel free to comment on the comments of others.

February 2nd
Good times today, whiners! The songs we listened to were different than anything that you listen to with your friends, but it was the lyrics that we hoped you'd pay attention to. Eddie Vedder took these songs as an opportunity to represent the book and the main ideas in the book.
Question for Today's Blog
Which of the songs was most similar to the book, Into the Wild? Why?
Look up the soundtrack if you forgot the songs we listened to.
SONGS WE LISTENED TO:
Setting Forth
Rise
End of the Road
Guaranteed
No Ceiling
Far Behind
Long Nights
Hard Sun
